چکیده
We experimentally demonstrate a low-phase-noise tenfold frequency multiplier based on compact integrated optical comb (OFC) generator. The Indium Phosphide (InP) monolithically OFC is flexible scheme using cascaded modulators. extremely broadly tunable in wavelength and repetition frequency, making it interesting for high-spectral-purity mm-waves applications. generation with 2.6 GHz spacing 19 tones within 10 dB power range an signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) higher than 40 reported. Using 74 GHz-bandwidth photodetector, we achieve set of phase-stabilized electrical tones, reaching carriers up to 39 high (SNR). In particular, the OFC-based tenfold-multiplied signal (26 GHz) provides remarkable feature, equivalent commercially available radiofrequency (RF) generator used as source at same power. At 26 GHz, phase-noise −50 dBc/Hz −80 are reported Hz 1 kHz offsets, respectively. proposed system enables multiplication 12-times without phase impairments, i.e., noise performance commercial RF generator, validating its potential mm-wave

Optical Frequency Combs: From Frequency Metrology to Optical Phase Control
The merging of continuous wave laser-based precision optical-frequency metrology with mode-locked ultrafast lasers has led to precision control of the visible and near-infrared frequency spectrum produced by mode-locked lasers. Such a phase-controlled mode-locked laser forms the foundation of a “femtosecond optical-frequency comb generator” with a regular comb of sharp lines with well-defined f...
متن کاملTowards On-Chip Integrated Optical Quantum Frequency Combs
Recent development in quantum photonics allowed to start the process of bringing photonic-quantum-based systems out of the lab into real world applications. As an example, devices for the exchange of a cryptographic key secured by the law of quantum mechanics are currently commercially available. In order to further boost this process, the next step is to migrate the results achieved by means o...
متن کاملColloquium: Femtosecond optical frequency combs
Recently there has been a remarkable synergy between the technologies of precision laser stabilization and mode-locked ultrafast lasers. This has resulted in control of the frequency spectrum produced by mode-locked lasers, which consists of a regular comb of sharp lines. Thus such a controlled mode-locked laser is a ‘‘femtosecond optical frequency comb generator.’’ For a sufficiently broad com...
متن کاملExcess Phase Noise Characterization in Multifrequency Remote Clock Distribution Based on Femtosecond Frequency Combs
Remote distribution of optical frequency references, based on multifrequency sources such as femtosecond frequency combs, holds many advantages over its single-frequency counterpart. However, characterizing the excess noise caused by the transmission links or external perturbations in a multifrequency scheme posts new challenges. We have experimentally demonstrated direct measurement of excess ...
متن کاملFrequency-noise measurements of optical frequency combs by multiple fringe-side discriminator
The frequency noise of an optical frequency comb is routinely measured through the hetherodyne beat of one comb tooth against a stable continuous-wave laser. After frequency-to-voltage conversion, the beatnote is sent to a spectrum analyzer to retrive the power spectral density of the frequency noise. Because narrow-linewidth continuous-wave lasers are available only at certain wavelengths, het...
